January-April 2024

  • January 10, 2024: We are excited to partner with 3M, the 59th Medical Wing Science & Technology Office of the Chief Scientist, Naval Medical Research Unit-San Antonio, and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio on a program focused on treatment of traumatic wounds from point-of-injury to hospital.   • January 5, 2024: Are you a dedicated first responder looking to influence positive change within your field? Your expertise and experience are invaluable in shaping improvements to better serve our communities. The University of Minnesota Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care is conducting focus groups to gather insights directly from first responders like you to improve tools, decision support and training. Together we will identify areas where we can co-create tools, training and other support to improve patient care from point of injury to arrival at the hospital. September-December 2023

  • December 21, 2023: Kathleen Stringer, PharmD, will be joining our Research In Progress Meeting on February 2 from 4-5:30pm in Mayo B620 and Zoom. Dr. Stringer is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. She also serves as a Deputy Director of the Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation (https://weilinstitute.med.umich.edu/) formerly, MCIRCC. She leads a research program in Translational Metabolomics in Critical Care which is funded by an NIH Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (R35). She also lends her metabolomics expertise to pulmonary colleagues who study COPD and is a SPIROMICS investigator. If you are interested in attending, please email [email protected].
  • December 20, 2023: We would like to congratulate Aaron Robinson, MD, on receiving a TCRTC Scholars Award! His project is titled, "Optimal Prehospital Airway Management with Patients with Major Trauma", and it will begin in early 2024.
  • November 17, 2023: The Medic to Medical School Pathway Program was recently announced! The Star Tribune has written an editorial about some of the program's goals, its origins, significance, and support. To learn more about the new program, read the editorial here

  • September 7, 2023: Institute for Engineering in Medicine's Annual Conference is on September 26. The Conference will include keynote talks by industry leaders, interactive lunch breakout sessions, and an afternoon poster session. May-August 2023

  • July 12, 2023: Dr. Robert Otto Valdez, PhD, MHSA, Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is visiting the University of Minnesota on July 24th from 9-10am.   • July 10, 2023: TCRTC is co-hosting Department of Surgery Grand Rounds on August 29th at 7:30am in HSEC 3-110 & Zoom. The speaker, Dr. Fred Rogers, will be giving a talk titled "Filling in the Gaps of the American Trauma Systems".

  • June 7, 2023: Dr. Greg Beilman gave a talk for the Medical School Dean's Lecture Series on Wednesday, June 14 . His talk was titled "Combat Casualty Care: Lessons for Care in Rural Settings (and Vice Versa)". The recorded webinar can be found here.

  • April 19, 2023: Four TCRTC members presented or were contributors for a debate topic at the 42nd Annual Surgical Infection Society in California (April 11-14, 2023). More information can be found in the Department of Surgery's write-up.
  • April 3, 2023: Dr. Greg Beilman will be speaking at the 22nd Annual Design of Medical Devices (DMD) Conference on April 18th.
